Change a Medium, Change a Feeling
This photograph is better than the actual art piece.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let me explain..So a while back I created this 3D dried floral art piece it was purely because I had a ton of dried peonies, extra canvases, and a Saturday afternoon of creative freedom. I loved it’s idea and the way it turned out, but it did have several flaws..⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. you can see the white canvas on the sides and it’s a little distracting from the piece
2. I ended up mixing dried real flowers with silk leaves and I wish the whole thing was either all dried or all silk
3. It has kind of been disintegrating and any time I move it around more pieces fall off. Very fragile..⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
..but I still love it!
I love it so much that I gave it its own little photo shoot a while ago and honestly I am kind of ok with tossing it because these film scans I got back are showing it without any of its flaws.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes art can be translated many different ways and in many different mediums. Even though this piece was born as a tangible piece of art, I think it’s important to be ok with breaking the rules. Experiment with what you love. And just because this piece had flaws it doesn’t mean It couldn’t be better or translated.
To me this piece wasn’t finished until this photo right here. I think her name is Delilah and I am going to frame her.
