"Wearing Many Hats" (Original Sketch)

$50.00

This painting is one of my favorites. I had the idea for a painting just like this, earlier this spring. I was listening to a talk by Joy D. Jones, who is a leader from my church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.) Here's a quote from her talk about women and their guide to receiving their own revelation for their lives, “Women wear many hats, but it is impossible, and unnecessary, to wear them all at once."

I loved this quote and had an idea of painting a woman wearing many hats as a floral crown. This painting, for me, can have multiple meanings. It can be about celebrating women who can and do so much every day (we all know that role model that seems like she can “do it all.”) But it can also, and more importantly, remind us that we shouldn't have to, and also can't do it all.
