Lilibet at Home

from $28.00

This painting is a little dedication to the late Queen Elizabeth. I have always loved learning about the history of the British Monarchy but especially Queen Elizabeth. It still amazes me that this young woman has been in this roll almost her entire life.

No matter how you feel about the the institution of the Royal family (which personally I have mixed feeling about) it truly is amazing that this woman who loved horses and the countryside was also this completely neutral figurehead and symbol of a country. I sometimes envy having someone like that in the US, when our leaders are so polarizing and dividing.

She accomplished so much in her life and at the end of the day she is just a person. A person who had likes, and dislikes, and laughed and cried, made jokes had relationships, had children, played family games, etc. I also love being apart of modern history especially a history that involves women to finally be written down in the books.

This collection is about simple things and the Queen's life was anything but simple. But I'd like to think that she cherished simple things in a world of grandeur and responsibility. To all of those who loved the queen, I wanted this to be a little tribute to her as well and to honor the roll in history that she played.
